MuleSoft Developer Salary 2026: UK, Europe and US Compared
MuleSoft developer salary in 2026: 68,500 pounds median in the UK, 120,233 dollars in the US, 650 pounds a day on contract, with the full percentile spread.
The median MuleSoft developer salary in the UK is 68,500 pounds a year, and the median contractor day rate for the same job title is 650 pounds. In the United States the equivalent median sits at 120,233 dollars. Those three numbers come from two entirely different measurement systems, which is why most MuleSoft salary pages contradict each other by a factor of two. This guide reconciles the UK advertised market, the US aggregator data and the European ecosystem survey into one comparison, and shows the percentile spread that every headline figure hides.
Methodology: UK permanent salaries, contractor day rates, advert volumes, regional medians and co-occurring skill frequencies were read from IT Jobs Watch and its MuleSoft contract page on 29 September 2026, covering the six months to that date. US figures come from the Talent.com MuleSoft developer dataset, built on a sample of 10,000 salaries. Ecosystem wide developer medians by country come from the Salesforce Ben 2026 developer salary guide, based on 2,316 respondents across 76 countries. Anything described below as observed, as a brief or as a shortlist is Apiire's own, drawn from our integration and Salesforce searches across Europe, and is flagged as such.
MuleSoft developer salary in the UK: one median, two very different curves
IT Jobs Watch measures MuleSoft twice, and the two measurements are worth separating because they answer different questions. The first counts every permanent advert that cites MuleSoft anywhere in the specification: 117 vacancies in the six months to 29 September 2026, with 102 quoted salaries. The second counts adverts where MuleSoft Developer is the normalised job title: 25 vacancies, 25 quoted salaries. Both land on a median of 68,500 pounds. Everything else about them differs.
| Percentile | MuleSoft cited as a skill (GBP) | MuleSoft Developer job title (GBP) | Who actually sits here |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10th | 52,500 | 63,000 | Junior integration developer, usually inside an implementation partner |
| 25th | 58,750 | 63,750 | Two to three years on Anypoint, one or two client estates |
| 50th (median) | 68,500 | 68,500 | The reference MuleSoft developer, roughly three to six years hands on |
| 75th | 92,500 | 70,250 | Integration lead or architect who cites MuleSoft, not a build seat |
| 90th | 105,000 | 71,250 | Enterprise architecture and programme level roles |
| Sample size | 102 salaries | 25 salaries | Treat the title column as precise and the skill column as broad |
This is the single most useful table on the page. The MuleSoft Developer title is a tight band: 63,000 pounds at the tenth percentile, 71,250 at the ninetieth, a spread of barely 8,000 pounds across the whole distribution. MuleSoft as a cited skill runs from 52,500 to 105,000, a spread of more than 52,000 pounds. The difference is not seniority inside the developer role, it is role substitution. Once you pass roughly 75,000 pounds, the market has stopped buying a MuleSoft developer and started buying an integration architect who happens to know MuleSoft. That is the real ceiling, and it explains why aggregators that blend the two report averages anywhere between 55,000 and 105,000 pounds for the same job.
For context, the median advertised salary across all permanent UK IT roles with a recognised job title is 59,000 pounds. MuleSoft therefore carries a premium of about 16 percent over the general IT market, and about 19 percent over the all vendors median of 57,500 pounds. The year on year movement is the more interesting signal: the MuleSoft Developer title median rose 23.42 percent, up from 55,500 pounds in the same period of 2025, while the broad MuleSoft skill median rose a more modest 5.38 percent.
Where the UK money is: London, remote and a fast moving North
Regional medians for adverts citing MuleSoft over the same six months, with the change against the same period last year.
| Location | Permanent adverts | Median salary (GBP) | Change year on year |
|---|---|---|---|
| London | 66 | 72,500 | +7.41% |
| Work from home | 50 | 68,500 | +14.17% |
| England (all) | 112 | 68,500 | +1.48% |
| UK excluding London | 44 | 61,250 | +10.36% |
| North of England | 20 | 62,500 | +38.89% |
| North West | 17 | 62,500 | +25.00% |
| Midlands | 11 | 55,000 | +4.76% |
| South East | 9 | 60,000 | -20.00% |
| East of England | 1 | 82,500 | -2.94% |
Two lines deserve attention. Remote roles account for 50 of the 112 English adverts and pay a median of 68,500 pounds, exactly the national median and only 5.5 percent below London. Integration work is genuinely location independent, and the advertised market now prices it that way. The second is the North of England at plus 38.89 percent year on year, off a small base of 20 adverts, which is what a nearshoring wave looks like in its early stage. The wider UK picture by role sits in our UK Salesforce salaries guide.
MuleSoft developer salary in the US: 120,233 dollars and the ceiling above it
The US market is measured by aggregation of posted and reported salaries rather than by advert normalisation, so the shape of the data is different: a large sample, a tight interquartile range and very little visibility of the top decile.
| Measure | Amount (USD) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Entry level | 100,000 | Where posted MuleSoft roles start |
| Median | 120,233 | Sample of 10,000 salaries |
| Most experienced | 148,748 | Top of the posted range, not the top of the market |
| Hourly equivalent | 60.85 | Full time equivalent, not a contractor rate |
| California | 129,015 | Highest paying state in the set |
| New York | 127,254 | |
| New Jersey | 126,920 | |
| Virginia | 126,789 | Federal and defence integration work |
| Massachusetts | 124,618 |
Place this against the ecosystem baseline and the picture sharpens. The Salesforce Ben 2026 survey puts the US Salesforce developer median at 94,500 dollars junior, 120,000 intermediate and 140,000 senior. The MuleSoft median of 120,233 dollars therefore lands precisely on the intermediate Salesforce developer level, while the MuleSoft top of range of 148,748 dollars sits just above the senior Salesforce developer median. In plain terms: MuleSoft skills lift a US developer into the intermediate band faster, but they do not push the ceiling much higher than a strong senior Salesforce developer already reaches.
MuleSoft developer salary across Europe: the honest state of the data
There is no country by country public dataset for MuleSoft in continental Europe, and any page claiming one is extrapolating. What does exist is a credible ecosystem baseline by country from a 2,316 respondent survey, against which the UK MuleSoft premium of roughly 16 percent can be applied with your eyes open.
| Country | Junior | Intermediate | Senior | Currency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | 94,500 | 120,000 | 140,000 | USD |
| United Kingdom | not reported | 56,500 | 70,000 | GBP |
| Germany | not reported | not reported | 83,750 | EUR |
| Spain | not reported | 45,000 | not reported | EUR |
| Poland | not reported | 140,000 | not reported | PLN |
| Canada | not reported | 99,150 | 100,000 | CAD |
| Australia | not reported | 93,100 | 147,000 | AUD |
| Brazil | not reported | 141,000 | 221,750 | BRL |
| India | 500,000 | 1,000,000 | 2,700,000 | INR |
Germany is the European outlier at 83,750 euros for a senior Salesforce developer, well above the UK senior figure of 70,000 pounds once converted, and MuleSoft is the skill most likely to push a German package past 90,000 euros because the German market has the densest concentration of SAP estates needing integration. Spain at 45,000 euros intermediate is the other end of the same continent. Apiire's own observation across European integration searches is that MuleSoft carries a 10 to 20 percent premium over the equivalent Salesforce developer package in the same country, widening to 25 percent where the brief also requires SAP or event driven architecture. That range is ours, not a published statistic. The full country by country ecosystem view sits in our Europe salaries guide.
Contract rates: 650 pounds a day, and a 30 percent jump
The contract market splits the same way as the permanent one, and here the gap runs in the opposite direction.
| Measure | MuleSoft as a skill | MuleSoft Developer title |
|---|---|---|
| Contract vacancies (6 months) | 250 | 31 |
| Daily rates quoted | 177 | 22 |
| 10th percentile (GBP/day) | 350 | 350 |
| 25th percentile (GBP/day) | 421 | 417 |
| Median (GBP/day) | 500 | 650 |
| Change year on year | -4.76% | +30.00% |
| 75th percentile (GBP/day) | 656 | 675 |
| UK excluding London median | 460 | 650 |
A named MuleSoft Developer contract pays a median of 650 pounds a day against 500 for the broad MuleSoft skill, a premium of 30 percent, and it rose 30 percent year on year while the broad skill median fell 4.76 percent. The other detail worth noting is that the MuleSoft Developer title shows no London discount at all: the UK excluding London median is also 650 pounds, against 460 for the broad skill. Specific integration build capability is being bought at the same rate wherever the contractor lives. How this compares with the wider Salesforce contract market is covered in our UK contractor day rates breakdown.
What UK adverts actually ask for alongside MuleSoft
Co-occurrence frequencies across the 117 UK permanent adverts citing MuleSoft in the six months to 29 September 2026. This is the closest thing to a public screening checklist for the role.
| Skill cited alongside MuleSoft | Share of the 117 adverts | What it signals |
|---|---|---|
| Azure | 53.85% | The integration estate is Microsoft first more often than Salesforce first |
| Salesforce | 43.59% | Fewer than half of MuleSoft roles are Salesforce roles at all |
| CI/CD | 35.90% | Pipeline literacy is now assumed, not a differentiator |
| Event-Driven | 34.19% | Batch era MuleSoft experience is ageing badly |
| Integration Patterns | 29.91% | Design reasoning is tested in interview, not just tooling |
| DevOps | 27.35% | Frequently the same seat rather than a neighbouring one |
| Boomi | 26.50% | A quarter of employers are comparing or running both |
| SAP | 26.50% | The single strongest driver of the top salary quartile |
| Anypoint | 21.37% | The platform is named explicitly in only one advert in five |
| AWS | 20.51% | |
| DataWeave | 14.53% | Named far less often than its real weight in day to day work |
The headline finding here upends the usual framing. Azure appears in 53.85 percent of MuleSoft adverts and Salesforce in only 43.59 percent. MuleSoft is owned by Salesforce, but in the UK advertised market it is more often bought as enterprise middleware sitting in front of an Azure estate than as a Salesforce integration layer. If you are a Salesforce professional weighing MuleSoft as a specialisation, that is the most important number on this page: the addressable market is wider than the Salesforce ecosystem, and more than half of it will expect you to be comfortable outside it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the average MuleSoft developer salary in 2026?
In the UK, 68,500 pounds is the median advertised salary for the MuleSoft Developer job title over the six months to 29 September 2026, with a tight band from 63,000 at the tenth percentile to 71,250 at the ninetieth. In the US the median is 120,233 dollars, with posted roles starting at 100,000 and the experienced end at 148,748. Any single average outside those bands is blending developers with integration architects.
Do MuleSoft developers earn more than Salesforce developers?
Yes, modestly and consistently. The UK MuleSoft median of 68,500 pounds sits about 16 percent above the 59,000 pound median for all permanent UK IT roles, and the UK senior Salesforce developer median in the Salesforce Ben survey is 70,000 pounds, which a MuleSoft specialist typically reaches a seniority level earlier. Across our own European searches the premium runs 10 to 20 percent over an equivalent Salesforce developer package, and up to 25 percent when SAP or event driven architecture is in the brief.
What is a good MuleSoft contractor day rate in the UK?
650 pounds a day is the median for a named MuleSoft Developer contract, with the 75th percentile at 675 and the 25th at 417. Anything below 420 is priced for a junior or for an offshore delivery model. Note that the broader pool of contracts merely citing MuleSoft pays a median of 500 pounds, so make sure you are comparing the same thing before you negotiate.
Is MuleSoft still worth learning in 2026?
The demand signal is mixed but positive for specialists. Permanent adverts citing MuleSoft were broadly flat at 117 against 116 a year earlier, but contract vacancies grew from 163 to 250, and the developer title median rose 23.42 percent on the permanent side and 30 percent on the contract side. Growth is coming through contract and through named specialist seats rather than through advert volume, which is the classic profile of a scarce skill rather than a growing one.
Which country pays MuleSoft developers best in Europe?
Germany, on the available evidence. The senior Salesforce developer median there is 83,750 euros against 70,000 pounds in the UK, and Germany combines the deepest concentration of SAP estates with a middleware heavy integration culture, which is exactly the profile that pushes MuleSoft packages into the top quartile. The UK remains the better contract market by a wide margin, with 250 MuleSoft contract vacancies in six months and a 650 pound median day rate.
